Pakistani forces abduct Baloch student and airport security personnel in Karachi: Report

Pakistan security forces have reportedly abducted a law student and airport security personnel from their residence in Karachi.

The victims have been identified as SM Law College student Hatim Bizenjo and airport security personnel ASI Dilwash Baloch, The Balochistan Post reported. he/she was forcibly abducted from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of ​​Karachi and then taken to an unknown place.

According to their close associates, both the men were taken away by plainclothes personnel from a house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal without any explanation. Their families have expressed concern about their well-being and demanded justice, The Balochistan Post reports.

The families of both the men said they have requested the local police to register an FIR over the incident. However, the police refused to consider his/her request.

Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the incident. In a statement shared on Twitter, BYC said, “In the last few days, law enforcement officials have forcibly disappeared Hatim Bizenjo, a law student, and ASI Dilvash Baloch, an airport security personnel in Karachi. Both the men were detained by plainclothes security personnel while raiding their homes in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Since then there is no trace of him/her and the police has refused to register his/her FIR.

BYC said that incidents of disappearances have become widespread across Balochistan and stressed that they condemn the targeting of Baloch people on the basis of their identity.

Criticizing authorities for the crackdown against the Baloch people, BYC said, “Enforced disappearances of Baloch living in Balochistan and Karachi have become rampant. We strongly condemn the targeting of Baloch on the basis of their identity. The state is deliberately carrying out Baloch genocide and systematically crushing the political resistance of the Baloch demanding their genuine fundamental rights.

The increase in cases of enforced disappearances has created deep concern among the Baloch people. According to recent data, more than 110 persons have been forcibly abducted in October and more than 90 cases have been reported in November.

The BYC has vowed to oppose the intensified military campaign against the Baloch people and stands in solidarity to protect the identity of the Baloch nation, The Balochistan Post reports.

Political and human rights groups in Pakistan have consistently expressed concern that the Pakistani government and its institutions may target civilians under the guise of military operations. These groups have called on the international community to pay attention to these incidents and hold Pakistan accountable for any violations.
