New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sought a report from the Karnataka High Court on the controversial remarks made by Justice Vedavyaschar Srishanand during a recent court hearing. Justice Srishanand, while addressing a landlord-tenant dispute, called a Muslim-dominated area of ​​Bengaluru Pakistan and made misogynistic remarks about a woman lawyer.A five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud expressed the need to set clear guidelines for judges regarding their comments in court. The Supreme Court said that judges need to make clear rules for their conversation in court. he/she said that social media monitors court proceedings, so it is important that the conversation of judges is in accordance with the rules of court.

The Chief Justice said that media reports have drawn attention to the comments made by a judge of the Karnataka High Court during court proceedings. We request the Karnataka High Court to submit a report after receiving instructions from the Chief Justice of the High Court. We may lay down some basic guidelines.

Chief Justice Chandrachud ordered the report to be filed and submitted within two days. The case is to be heard on Wednesday next week. Videos of Justice Srishanand have gone viral on social media. In one video, he/she calls the Muslim-dominated area of ​​Bengaluru as Pakistan and in another video, he/she is seen making objectionable remarks against a female lawyer. In the second case, Justice Srishanand made a comment about undergarments.
