Pakistan is still alive in T20 WC! Babar-Rizwan’s amazing innings crushed Canada

New Delhi. Pakistan has got its first win in the T20 World Cup 2024 today. On the basis of Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century and Babar Azam’s well-planned innings, Pakistan defeated Canada by seven wickets. With this, they have come to third place in the points table. Earlier, America defeated Pakistan after the thrill of the super over. Then this team could not even chase the target of just 120 runs against India. Before this match, Pakistan was at the fourth place among five teams in the points table.

The Canadian team scored 106 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs on the basis of Aaron Johnson’s half-century. While chasing the target, Pakistan won the match two overs earlier on the basis of Mohammad Rizwan’s amazing batting. Mohammad Aamir became the man of the match, who pushed Canada on the backfoot by taking two important wickets.

Pakistan did not have a very good start while chasing the target. Sam Ayub was given a chance in this match but he/she could score only six runs after facing 12 balls. From here onwards Babar Azam came to the field to support Mohammad Rizwan. A half-century partnership was formed between the two. Both of them together added 63 runs. Babar played an innings of 33 runs off 33 balls. Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 53 runs off 53 balls.

Aaron Johnson single-handedly took over Canada
Aaron Johnson gave Canada a great start. The team made their intentions clear by scoring 11 runs in the first over. However, they could not score runs at this pace for long. Navneet Dhaliwal was out in the third over. Pargam Singh was also caught out on the first ball of the sixth over. Aaron Johnson stood firm at one end. In between, he/she hit brilliant fours and sixes and moved the score board forward. Johnson played an innings of 52 runs in 44 balls. During this, he/she hit four fours and as many sixes. Due to lack of support from the other end, they could not set a big target.

What next for Pakistan?
Now Pakistan has to not only win against Ireland in the next match but also improve their net run rate by defeating them by a big margin. After this, they will have to pray that the Indian team defeats America on Wednesday. They will also have to hope that America loses to Canada in their last match. Only then can they reach the Super-8 on the basis of better run rate.
