Pakistan Cricket Board has given free hand to coach Kirsten, he/she can do whatever he/she deems necessary…

Lahore. The Cricket Board is extremely upset with the disappointing performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the ICC T20 World Cup. The team was eliminated from the first round of the tournament. The underrated US team also defeated Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. After Pakistan’s poor performance, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday gave a free hand to head coach Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie to change the team’s fortunes. Sources gave this information.

Pakistan’s team lost to the new US team in the super over in the group stage of the World Cup held in America and West Indies. Apart from this, it failed to make it to the super eight stage after losing to India. Naqvi met the coaches of the limited overs format and the test team. Former South African batsman Gary Kirsten has been made the coach of Pakistan’s T20 and ODI team. Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has been given the responsibility of coaching the test team.

According to the PCB, Naqvi told both the coaches that he/she has full faith in them. They will get full support from the cricket board. A PCB source said, “Kirsten clearly expressed his/her concerns about the white ball team on the basis of the World Cup.”

Both the head coaches told the PCB chairman that they want to set clear guidelines regarding the fitness level required for selection of the Pakistan team. “Naqvi told them that they should do whatever is necessary to change the fortunes of the team and no one will ask them to compromise on selection or fitness of the players,” the source said.
