PAK vs CAN T20 World Cup: Pakistan was disappointed even after winning, Babar told where did they go wrong

New Delhi. Pakistan defeated Canada by 7 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup late on Tuesday night. This is Pakistan’s first win in the tournament. After the victory, Pakistani captain Babar Azam said that the net run rate was in his/her mind but the pitch made it difficult. In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan is in Group A with India and America. India and America are in the first two positions in the group by winning two matches each. Pakistan’s team is at number three. The top-2 teams from each group will make it to the Super-8.

After defeating Canada, Pakistani captain Babar Azam said, ‘We needed this victory. We started well in bowling. When we were batting, we also had the net run rate in mind but it was difficult due to the bad pitch.’ Pakistan had restricted Canada to 106 runs in the match played on Tuesday. After this, they won the match in the 18th over.

Pakistan needed to achieve this target in 19.1 overs to make its net run rate positive. Apart from this, it needed to win in 13.5 overs to have a better net run rate than America (0.626). Pakistan won in 17.3 overs. This improved its net run rate from -0.150 to 0.191, but it is not better than America.

If Pakistan wins its last match in the Super-8 and America loses both its matches, then both teams will have equal 4-4 points. After this, only the team with a better net run rate will go to the Super-8. This is the reason why Babar Azam is not completely happy after Pakistan’s victory. he/she knows that Pakistan will not only have to win its last match, but the margin of victory should also be big.
