Pak: Mehrang Baloch condemns the arrest of human rights lawyer Iman Hazir and her husband


Mehrang Baloch, a prominent Baloch human rights activist, expressed deep concern and outrage after her lawyer and human rights advocate Iman Zainab Mazari-Hazir and her husband Abdul Hadi were arrested on Monday while on their way to work.

Sharing a post on @HadiAli115 has been arrested. Going to work today, October 28.”

“I strongly believe that Iman has been targeted because of her work, particularly her fight against enforced disappearances in court. Iman has faced frequent harassment and arrest because of her role as a lawyer,” the post said.

Mehrang Baloch expressed their outrage and showed solidarity with Iman while criticizing the disregard for rule of law in the country.

“I stand in solidarity with Iman, her family, and the legal community during this challenging time as we see a complete disregard for the rule of law in this country,” Baloch said on X.

A day earlier, Baloch had drawn attention to the alleged coercion and harassment of Balochistan National Party (BNP) senators, including their leader Akhtar Mengal, amid the ongoing discussion regarding Pakistan’s 26th constitutional amendment .

Baloch condemned state aggression against BNP members, criticized the alleged use of intimidation to secure votes, and demanded accountability in Pakistan’s political process.

In a post on X, Baloch had said, “The way @sakhtarmengal and his/her BNP senators were treated and forced to vote for the 26th constitutional amendment, and now they are being framed in fake police cases. It clearly shows that there is no place for parliamentaryism.” Politics or peaceful activism in Pakistan. Neither Akhtar Mengal nor peaceful activists like us are taking up arms or guns, yet the state’s behavior is repressive, Baloch said.

She further said, “I condemn this state aggression against the BNP leadership and hope that Akhtar Mengal will choose to stand with his/her people against this powerless and spineless Parliament. I condemn the illegal actions against the BNP leadership.
