There was ruckus in the jails of Gujarat yesterday during surprise checking. Police raided 17 jails in Gujarat late last night. This raid has been done under the leadership of Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. According to preliminary information, mobile phones and other suspicious items have also been recovered from some jails. There is also news of getting cannabis from Sabarmati Jail in Surat and Ahmedabad and drugs from Bharuch. CCTV footage of the jails is being checked. The objective of this operation is to find out about the suspicious activities of the gangsters lodged in the jails.

Midnight raids in jails on IB’s input

It is worth mentioning that recently gangster Atiq Ahmed, who was lodged in Sabarmati Jail, had planned the murder of Umesh Pal while in jail. It is believed that this entire action was taken after receiving the input of IB, in which it was told that Atiq Ahmed had conspired to kill Umesh through a WhatsApp call from jail.

Explain that the purpose of this raid was to crack down on illegal activities of gangsters inside the jails. The police raided 17 jails in the state overnight, including Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, where UP mafia Atiq Ahmed is lodged, Vadodara Central Jail, Lajpore Jail in Surat and Rajkot Jail. During the raid in Surat jail, the prisoners created ruckus. The situation started getting out of control, after which around 150 policemen were sent inside. Midnight action was going on in the jails of Gujarat and the State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi himself was watching the whole raid live sitting in the control room.
