Our unmanned ships will answer the enemy in the middle of the sea, the Defense Ministry has approved this project worth crores of rupees

New Delhi: The Defence Ministry has approved the Indian Navy to build 100-tonne unmanned underwater ships. The project is worth more than Rs 2,500 crore. This will take India ahead in the field of unmanned warfare. The Navy will use these ships for various purposes like attacking enemy submarines and ships, laying and removing landmines, surveillance and launching weapons.

India’s power will increase under the sea
Recently, in a high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry, the proposal to build these unmanned underwater ships was approved. Defense sources said that these ‘Extra Large’ class ships will weigh more than 100 tons. These ships will be able to attack enemy submarines and ships. This will increase India’s power under water. Former Deputy Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral SN Ghormade said that these ships will help the Navy to do many tasks under water. Sources said that the Navy wants to use these ships for many tasks, such as laying and removing landmines, surveillance and launching weapons.

Navy will issue tender for the project next month
The Indian Navy will issue tenders for this project in the next few months. Indian shipbuilding companies will bid under the ‘Make-1’ process as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. The Navy wants ships that can stay underwater for a long time. Also, these ships can operate away from the coast so that suspicious ships and other activities can be monitored and national interests can be protected.

The Navy is also working on unmanned surface ships. These ships have been used to destroy large ships and assets in ongoing conflicts around the world. The Navy is also focusing on enhancing unmanned long-range surveillance capabilities. For this, the Navy has inducted drones like MQ-9B and Drishti Hermes 900. There are plans to induct more drones in the future.
