New Delhi: It was the year 2015. Bihar assembly elections were about to be held. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat gave an interview to the organisation’s mouthpiece The Organiser. In the conversation, he/she said that reservation should be reviewed. he/she suggested that it should be seen how much the needy benefited from the current reservation system and how much the purpose for which the constitution makers had made the reservation system was fulfilled. This had a direct impact on the Bihar elections. When the election results came, the RSS’s political wing BJP had suffered a major setback. The opponents understood that reservation is BJP’s sore spot. Therefore, when a new Indi Alliance was formed to put all its might to stop the victory chariot of BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this weapon of reservation was tried. It worked again. BJP, which was dreaming of increasing the figure of 303 seats to 370, was reduced to 240 seats.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi kept reservation a big issue even after the elections. he/she openly declared in the first parliamentary session of the 18th Lok Sabha that caste census will definitely be done. Rahul wants to get caste census done so that pressure is put on the government and the Supreme Court to increase the valid limit of reservation to 50% to implement his/her slogan of ‘as much population as much right’. But now when Rahul Gandhi is in America, he/she said something in response to questions on reservation that he/she himself got cornered. he/she got cornered in such a way that Rahul, who wears the tag of champion of reservation, had to give clarification. Common sense says that someone takes the burden of giving clarification only when he/she feels that if he/she does not do so, things may get worse. If there is no fear of loss, then who thinks of clarification? The clarification from Rahul is in itself proof that there was definitely a fear of at least his/her ‘champion’ image getting tarnished due to what he/she has said on reservation. Then assembly elections are also going to be held in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress will think about ending reservation only when there will be fairness in the country. At present, such conditions do not exist in the country.

The attack of the weapon of reservation never goes in vain

For a large section of the country, the scope of knowing and accepting the Constitution does not go much beyond reservation. But in that section, only a handful of dominant sections claim a large share in the benefits of reservation. Due to this, such a crowd of those dominants has been created who have been riding the ladder of reservation for generations and the wait of the people standing below is not ending. Whenever there is a talk of providing justice to such a section waiting for their turn, that dominant section and its representatives raise the hue and cry that there is a conspiracy to end reservation. Be it Mohan Bhagwat’s statement during the Bihar assembly elections in 2015 or the slogan of ‘Abki baar 400 paar’ given by the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the representatives of those who have enjoyed a large share of the cream of reservation interpreted it that a plan has been made to end reservation. Interestingly, this interpretation is readily accepted by the same section whose wait someone takes the risk of trying to end. Now it is becoming a trend that if one talks about extending the benefits of reservation to the deprived class, then one is bound to get bloodied in the election field.

Rahul has just stopped the speed of BJP’s victory chariot with this weapon, so he/she has no doubt what will happen to him/her and his/her Congress party if this becomes an issue. Rahul immediately said that his/her statement on reservation has been presented in a distorted manner. he/she wants the scope of reservation to be more than 50%. For this, he/she is adamant on caste census. It is a different matter that what changes have come in the reservation system after caste census in Bihar or why the report of caste census done during the previous Congress government in Karnataka from 2013-18 has not been made public till now, Rahul has no answer to this. Rahul also does not want to talk about how giving reservation to Muslims by breaking into the OBC quota is in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution. This is what is called politics. It is not easy to master the art of hurting and then being called a well-wisher. Congress and Rahul Gandhi have done this for the time being.

Now be cautious of this drama of the supreme leader of Congress party, Shri Rahul Gandhi in which he/she has said abroad that when India will be in a better condition, we will end the reservation of SC, ST, OBC. This makes it clear that Congress has been conspiring to end their reservation for years.

But they say that sometimes even experts make mistakes. When Rahul Gandhi was asked what he/she thinks about reservation, how long will the caste based reservation system remain in force, he/she said that reservation will remain in force until there is impartiality in the country. At present, such conditions do not exist in the country. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati reacted sharply to this. She associated the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi with words like drama. Mayawati said that Rahul Gandhi is thinking of ending the reservation of SC-ST, OBC. he/she is just waiting for the opportunity. If India comes to a better condition, Rahul will end the reservation. Mayawati further said, ‘It is clear from this that Congress has been conspiring to end their reservation for years.’ Why would the BJP, which has been wounded by the weapon of reservation, miss the opportunity? She also said that the face of Rahul Gandhi, who keeps on harping on the Constitution and reservation, has been exposed. Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said that opposition to reservation is in Rahul Gandhi’s blood.
