Opinion: Pushing, ruckus…is this the honor of Ambedkar? The country is watching everything, honorable

Waving placards in the Parliament, throwing paper balls towards the presiding officer, making paper planes and flying them, tearing papers and throwing them, snatching and tearing copies of bills, creating ruckus in the well and raising slogans…we have seen all this in the Parliament. . Even in the biggest Panchayat of the country, we have seen wading bundles of notes. Parliamentary dignity being torn apart. ‘Bitter’ on opposition MP. Using words like. But now this is too much. Whatever happened on Thursday tarnished the dignity of Parliament. There were allegations of pushing and shoving, allegations of misbehavior with the woman MP, someone got head injury and someone got knee injury. The parties and the opposition are blaming each other. Allegations of assault, allegations of pushing, allegations of drama…even the matter reached the police station. FIR has been lodged. Even the accuser, Hon. Those who were accused were also honorable. And all this happened in the name of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Just imagine, what Ambedkar’s soul would be thinking after seeing this scene. There is always a deadlock between the party and the opposition. This is evident from their name itself. But what kind of deadlock is this that Parliament cannot function? According to an estimate, the expenditure on Parliament proceedings is around Rs 2.5 lakh every minute i.e. Rs 1 crore per hour. This money belongs to the public only. These are from the taxes paid by him/her. But it seems as if Parliament not functioning is becoming normal. Sometimes the opposition creates ruckus on some issue and does not allow the Parliament to function and sometimes the ruling party creates ruckus on some issue and does not allow the House to function. Look at this session. While Congress did not allow Parliament to function on the Adani issue, the ruling party did not allow it to function on the issue of George Soros.

Somehow, even if the proceedings of the House go on, things are made issues which are not issues at all. What just happened? During the discussion on the Constitution, Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave a long speech. Through the speech, he/she tried his/her best to portray BJP as a true Ambedkar supporter and Congress as anti-Ambedkar. A long list of crimes committed by Congress for allegedly insulting Baba Saheb was also recited. But very cleverly the opposition seized a small part of Shah’s speech. ‘It has become a fashion now… Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. If you had taken this much name of God, you would have gone to heaven for 7 births. These were Shah’s own words. Spoke in Rajya Sabha. If anyone sees just this part, it would be natural to feel that the speaker has a problem with hailing Ambedkar, he/she has a problem with praise. But this was only an incomplete truth, a half-truth.

The opposition became aggressive regarding this from the House to outside. There were demands for Amit Shah’s resignation. There were demands for an apology. There was panic in BJP. The phase of cleaning has begun. PM Modi also enumerated the list of alleged ‘crimes’ of Congress regarding Ambedkar in a series of tweets. Shah held a formal press conference to give clarification. Said that a small part of the speech is being twisted and lies are being spread. Challenged to show the full clip.

On the other hand, to increase further pressure on the BJP which is under pressure, the opposition started protesting with Ambedkar’s pictures in the Parliament complex on Thursday. In response, BJP MPs also started protesting. There was a competition between ‘We are the biggest followers of Ambedkar’ and ‘We are the truest followers’. It was fine till now, but by pushing and shoving, the honorable people flouted the parliamentary decorum. BJP is alleging that two of its MPs got injured due to Rahul Gandhi’s push. Had to be admitted to hospital. A woman MP of BJP even accused Rahul Gandhi of misbehaving and hurting her dignity and self-respect. On the other hand, Congress has accused BJP MPs of misbehaving with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and pushing its national president Mallikarjun Kharge. It is said that Kharge got injured in his/her knee. A Left MP has also claimed to be injured. Rahul Gandhi has also accused BJP MPs of pushing and threatening him/her. The matter has now become a matter of police station and court.

During this time, all the big leaders of BJP started sharing a clip of Rahul Gandhi and started making fake claims that he/she himself had confessed to the scuffle. Cleverly, that part was removed from the video in which a reporter is asking Rahul Gandhi whether he/she was assaulted with a kharge. In response to this, Gandhi says that yes, it has been done, it has been done… but it is okay, it is okay, we do not get anything by pushing and shoving. BJP is cleverly promoting it as ‘theft and theft’ of Rahul Gandhi. Now Congress is saying that the entire clip was not shown. Whatever the opposition is doing with Shah’s statement on Ambedkar, BJP is doing it with Rahul’s byte.

The public is watching all this. She also knows the reality. How much truth is there in the allegations and how much is fraud, the public is seeing and understanding everything. Everyone was seen naked in the hammam. Parliament is stalled and our honorable people are hell-bent on turning the Parliament complex into an arena. What could be a greater degradation of parliamentary dignity than this? Hey gentlemen, have some modesty, have some respect, the public is watching everything. The country is watching everything.
