MoscowEver since Russia attacked Ukraine in February, the eyes of the world have been on India. India is proving to be that player of strategy in this war, whose every move is shocking. It is very difficult to ignore his official position. In the last two weeks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin that this period is not for war. But on the other hand the vote on Russia in the United Nations (UN) was also missing.
PM Modi’s view
PM Modi spoke to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, over the phone. Modi made it clear that there is no military solution to any conflict. Just when PM Modi was talking to the President of Ukraine, his military was regaining control in North-East and Southern Ukraine. Even if the rest of the people are confused on this, but the government has a clear answer – India will take every necessary decision for its own interest. This is the position everyone will agree to.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also said, ‘India decides its conclusions and then guesses. We have a good understanding of what is in our interest and know how to protect and advance it. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India’s stated values have traditionally given importance to sovereignty. At this point in time, however, none of the goals is difficult in the assessment of the values that are essential to the national interest.
What will happen to Russia and India?
If foreign policy experts are to be believed, the possibility is also increasing that some of the assumptions that New Delhi has made to strengthen its position on Ukraine, are now looking weak with the passage of time. By the end of 2022, Russia will not be able to attract India much. In Kyiv, Kharkiv and now Kherson, Russian weapons are failing in a big way. India no longer needs to be as dependent on Russia for hydrocarbons as China is. While Russia has become synonymous with instability in the international community, India is the country which is capable of providing stability.
India needs world
India is understanding the changing behavior of US President Joe Biden. He overturned a decision by former President Donald Trump and announced $450 million in military aid to Pakistan. Now Pakistan will upgrade its F-16 fleet. Apart from this, Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa was in the US last week.
Here he was not only given a 21-gun salute but was also awarded the Guard of Honor from the Pentagon. At the same time, the US ambassador to Pakistan also supported India’s enemy on the Kashmir issue. US Ambassador Donald Blom visited PoK and called it Azad Kashmir. America has many reasons to justify this incident. India’s economy is stable and it is clear that the West needs it more than India.
