One week wasted… finally the opposition agreed to run the Parliament smoothly, know how the matter was resolved

New Delhi: The first week of the winter session of Parliament was marred by uproar. However, after no legislative business on Monday, the government finally got a breakthrough. The government and the opposition have agreed to discuss the Constitution to mark 75 years of its adoption. The discussion is to be held in the Lok Sabha on 13 and 14 December and in the Rajya Sabha on 16 and 17 December. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the dates. he/she expressed hope that smooth functioning of both the houses will start from Tuesday. This agreement was reached in a meeting called by Speaker Om Birla with leaders of various political parties. A meeting of leaders of all parties was held with the Speaker. There was a deadlock in Parliament for the last few days. Everyone expressed concern over this.

the agreement was amazing

The MPs said that we also said that all the elected representatives come to the Parliament to express their views and it is not right for the Parliament not to function properly for many days. Rijiju said that everyone accepted it. This agreement to restore normalcy was surprising, as the Congress had a strict stand that Parliament would not be allowed to function unless the government agreed to discuss the charges leveled against the Adani Group in the US.

TMC stayed out of the meeting

This change has come amid confusion in the opposition regarding the stand of the Congress. Trinamool Congress, which had walked away from the movement, did not attend the meeting called by the Congress to discuss coordination in the House. TMC MPs had argued for moving away from an Adani-centric approach so that public concerns like inflation could be debated. On Monday, Samajwadi Party also argued for allowing Parliament to function so that the violence over the survey conducted in Sambhal Masjid could be discussed.

You will get a chance as per the rules

Rijiju said that the Speaker said in the meeting that if anyone wants to raise an issue, there are rules for that. he/she said that you can give notice for this but it is not right to create ruckus in the Parliament. Everyone has accepted it. It is a good thing that everyone has accepted that the discussion will take place from Tuesday.
