One for every four? Modi’s government and Naidu-Nitish are making the formula for the cabinet!

New Delhi: Has the formula for including allies in the new government been prepared? The third NDA government led by Narendra Modi will take oath on Sunday, June 9. Before this, work is going on at a fast pace on the formula for cabinet formation. If sources are to be believed, the formula of 4:1 has been proposed by BJP’s allies in the NDA. The allies want one ministerial post for every four MPs of theirs. If this formula is implemented, then 25% of the MPs of the allies will become ministers.

Four ministers from TDP, three from JDU?

Andhra Pradesh’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has emerged as the biggest shareholder in NDA after BJP. Chandra Babu Naidu’s party has 16 MPs. After him/her comes Nitish Kumar whose party JDU has 12 MPs. JDU and BJP are running a coalition government in Bihar while in Andhra Pradesh too, TDP is going to form the government by defeating the ruling party YSRCP. If the news coming from sources is to be believed, TDP with 16 MPs will have four ministers in the central government while JDU with 12 MPs will have four ministers. With this formula, two MPs each from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s party Shiv Sena and Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (Ram Vilas) in Bihar can take oath as ministers.

This time the government is dependent on crutches

Keep in mind that the Lok Sabha election results that came on June 4 have resulted in a hung parliament. After a decade, no party has got majority on its own. BJP has emerged as the largest party with 240 seats and the NDA led by it has emerged as the largest alliance with a total of 293 seats. On the other hand, the opposition’s India Alliance has got 243 seats, including 99 seats of Congress alone. Earlier in 2014 and 2019, BJP had crossed the majority mark on its own with 282 and 303 seats respectively.
