There are some players who are special and also create history. During a Ranji match in Ahmedabad, a bowler took the first nine wickets and just missed the last wicket.

Gujarat’s left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai took nine wickets in the very first session against Uttarakhand in Ahmedabad. he/she had a chance to become the second bowler after Haryana’s Anshul Kamboj to take a perfect 10 this season. But this chance ended when Vishal Jaiswal took the last wicket.

Siddharth’s super spell

Gujarat’s left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai, who has excellent flight, loop and expertise in spinning the ball in the air and turning the pitch, created history in the Ranji Trophy sixth round match against Uttarakhand in Ahmedabad. Desai, who played a brilliant mix of spin and armor balls, took 9 wickets for 36 runs, these are Gujarat’s best figures in first-class cricket. Earlier in 1960-61, Jasu Patel had taken eight wickets for 21 runs against Saurashtra. Vishal Jaiswal did not allow Desai to achieve the historic feat of taking all 10 wickets in an innings. Vishal took the only wicket of Harsh Patwal. But by taking 9 wickets for 36 runs, Siddharth Desai became the best performing bowler for Gujarat in the history of Ranji Trophy. Due to the amazing bowling of Siddharth, Gujarat all out Uttarakhand on the score of just 111 runs. Desai, who took nine wickets in his/her debut match against Kerala in 2017-18, has emerged as Gujarat’s main spinner since Piyush Chawla’s return to Uttar Pradesh and is fulfilling this responsibility well.

Desai’s dominance in domestic cricket

24 year old Siddharth Desai, who came into the good books of selectors by taking 9 wickets in an innings, has played cricket for Gujarat since the beginning. Siddharth has also played Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 for Gujarat. Desai has also been playing for Gujarat in Ranji Trophy for a long time. So far he/she has played 36 matches in Ranji, in which he/she has taken 159 wickets. Siddharth has 25 wickets in his/her name in 20 matches played in List A. The left arm spinner became the leading wicket-taker for Gujarat in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, taking 30 wickets in 6 matches.
