Once Murthal’s Sukhdev Dhaba used to walk in a hut with four cots, the highway temple today

In today’s time, this dhaba has been connected to the name Murthal, sitting somewhere or taking a paratha test, Murthal’s Sukh Dev Dhaba walks, it is said! There was a time when this dhaba was called a small coli or hut, it was open with such a condition. Dhaba was opened for truck drivers

In 1956, Sardar Prakash Singh opened a dhaba on GT Road in Murthal. It was made of tarpaulin and wooden pillars only. It was first opened for truck drivers, who used to walk on the highway and stopped the car at such dhabas and eat food. During that time there was also a system of four -four, so that they could rest here. Later, his/her sons Amrik Singh and Sukhdev Singh handled this dhaba. Both sons added their names and named this dhaba as “Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba”.

Initially dal-roti was served

Initially, lentils, roti, vegetables and rice were served here and food was served at the Charpines. Gradually, Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba became popular among truck drivers. All the truck drivers stopped here and enjoyed delicious food and rested on the charpies.
Over time, he/she increased his/her menu and facilities. Now Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba became popular not only for truck drivers, but also among the food enthusiasts. Some long distance buses from Delhi to Punjab or Himachal also stopped at this dhaba. Gradually, the local people around and people from different parts of North India started coming here. he/she then included parathas in his/her menu and started serving with butter. Today Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba K Parathas are world famous.

Murthal, located on NH-44, is filled with several dhabas on the banks of GT Road. Amrik Sukhdev is one of the major dhabas of them, where the seating capacity is 500-600 people.
