Returned to power for the second consecutive time by winning 33 seats in Tripura.

In Tripura, the BJP-IPFT alliance returned to power for the second consecutive term by winning 33 seats in the 60-member assembly. Both the parties got 10 seats less as compared to 2018 election but due to clear mandate the alliance can rule for five years without the help of new party Tipra Motha. Tipra Motha won 13 seats.

Left-Congress alliance secured 14 seats

Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, a scion of the erstwhile royal family, formed Tipra Motha two years ago. The Left-Congress alliance secured 14 seats. Debbarma’s party made a dent in the Left vote in the tribal areas. The performance of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the state was dismal. TMC fielded candidates on 28 seats but did not get success anywhere. TMC’s vote share (0.88 per cent) was even less than NOTA. The BJP contested 55 seats and won 32. Compared to the year 2018, BJP got three seats less.
