What is the history of the temple

The temple of Chauth Mata was established by Raja Bhim Singh. It is said that Goddess Charu Mata had appeared to Raja Bhim Singh Chauhan in his/her dream and ordered him/her to build the temple. When the king had gone hunting, he/she had found the idol of Chauth Mata, with which he/she returned to Barwada and with the advice of the priests, installed the idol on Magh Krishna Chaturthi on the mountain top of Barwada. In 1463, Bijal Chhatri and pond were constructed on the temple road. Lakhs of devotees come to this temple not only from Rajasthan but also from other states. Religious events have special significance here during Navratri. Chauth Mata Temple, situated on a hill approximately one thousand feet high, remains a center of faith for thousands of devotees. Devotees have to climb 700 stairs to reach here.

To reach here, you have to go to a village named Barwada, 35 km away from Sawai Madhopur city, to reach here you get the facility of private car, bus or taxi. To reach the temple complex, one will have to climb about 700 stairs.
