Om Birla will be the Speaker of Lok Sabha again, Deputy Speaker’s post will go to the opposition? Rajnath Singh made a deal through talks

New Delhi: Finally, a consensus was reached on the Lok Sabha Speaker. It is being said that Om Birla will be the Lok Sabha Speaker. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took the charge from the ruling party and the work was done. It is believed that the Deputy Speaker post was discussed in the talks with the opposition and the ruling party decided to give up this post. In this way, the ruling party and the opposition took one step at a time and both agreed on the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. It is being said that the ruling party will have the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and the Deputy Speaker post will be given to the opposition. Talks took place between the two camps when the last date for nomination came. Rajnath Singh from the ruling party talked to the opposition leaders and it was happily decided that only one candidate should stand for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker so that there is no need for elections. Now the election for both the important posts for the lower house of Parliament will be done by consensus. Since there is no voting, now the names of the Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be announced directly.

Due to BJP getting majority on its own in 2014 and 2019 and the plight of the opposition, the post of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha remained vacant for 10 years. No one was given the post of Deputy Speaker in the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha. The government was also criticized for this. However, Sumitra Mahajan held the post of Lok Sabha Speaker from 2014 to 2019 while Om Birla held the post of Lok Sabha Speaker from 2019 to 2024. Sumitra was then elected from Indore in Madhya Pradesh while Om Birla was an MP from Kota in Rajasthan. Birla has reached Parliament this time too by getting elected from Kota. he/she has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Therefore, there is speculation that Om Birla will be the Speaker of the Lok Sabha again.
