Om Birla or K. Suresh, who will become the Speaker of Lok Sabha? Know the number game before the election

New Delhi: There was no consensus between the government and the opposition for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. As a result, now the election for the post of Speaker is certain. This time too, NDA has nominated Om Birla, MP from Kota, while K. Suresh filed his/her nomination on Tuesday on behalf of India Alliance. The opposition does not have the numbers in the Lok Sabha. On the other hand, TMC has also said that there was no consultation with them regarding this. Despite this, they have fielded their candidate for the post of Speaker. Usually the Lok Sabha Speaker is elected by consensus. This will be the third time that voting will take place for the post of Speaker in the Lok Sabha. What do the numbers say?
First of all, let us know who has the upper hand in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s election. At present, BJP has 240 MPs in the Lok Sabha. If we add 16 MPs of TDP and 12 MPs of JDU and other allies, then the NDA alliance has a total of 293 MPs. All these MPs have also taken oath. That is, they are entitled to vote for the Speaker. On the other hand, the India alliance has a total of 235 MPs. In this, 29 MPs are also from TMC, others have 14 MPs in their account. At the same time, 7 MPs have not yet taken oath, out of which 3 are from TMC and 1 each from Congress and SP. In such a situation, these MPs will also not be able to vote for the Speaker. If TMC does not support, then India will be left with only 204 MPs. However, as the NDA alliance candidate, Om Birla is considered certain to win the election easily.
From Amritpal to Afzal Ansari, these seven MPs did not take oath, know what will happen now
TMC is angry with Congress over Speaker election!
On Tuesday, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee had created an uncomfortable situation for the Congress by saying that his/her party was not consulted on nominating Kodikunnil Suresh of the Congress as the joint candidate of ‘India’ for the post of Speaker. he/she also said that party chief Mamata Banerjee will decide on supporting Suresh. Abhishek Banerjee had said, ‘No one contacted us. There was no conversation, unfortunately this is a unilateral decision.’ However, Trinamool Congress also attended the India Alliance meeting held on Tuesday night.

How will the Lok Sabha speaker be elected?
When the Lok Sabha proceedings begin on Wednesday, the names of the newly elected MPs who have not yet taken the oath of Parliament membership will be called first. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will propose the name of Om Birla as the new Lok Sabha Speaker in the House and will request all parties to elect him/her unanimously and unopposed. If the government’s request is accepted and the opposition does not propose K. Suresh’s name as the Lok Sabha Speaker candidate, then Om Birla will be elected unopposed as the Lok Sabha Speaker. If the opposition proposes its candidate’s name, then elections will be held in the House.

Voting for the speaker can be done by slip
It is being said that if voting takes place for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, then there is a high possibility that it will be done through ballot paper. The newly elected MPs who have taken oath in the Lok Sabha will decide through voting who will be the new Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla or K. Suresh.
