If you live in Uttar Pradesh and you have bought an electric scooter, car or any other vehicle after Diwali last year, then there is beneficial news for you. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a special subsidy scheme for electric vehicles. The special thing in this scheme is that after October 14 last year, customers who buy electric vehicles will also get the benefit of subsidy. For this, the state government has launched the subsidy portal today. Customers will get the benefit of the scheme by registering on this portal.

Benefit of subsidy will be available on this portal

A spokesperson of the state government said that the portal ‘’ has been made operational. Customers who have bought an electric vehicle after October 14 will be able to apply for subsidy by visiting this portal. The subsidy amount will be transferred to the bank account of the customer on completion of the four-level verification after the application on the portal. It is notable that the state government has fixed the process of application through the portal to transparently implement the purchase subsidy incentive scheme given in the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022. Under this, UPDESCO has created the portal.

Will get the benefit of subsidy till this date only

Under the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022, the Purchase Subsidy Incentive Scheme will be applicable from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2023. According to the spokesperson, individual beneficiaries (buyers) will get the subsidy on only one vehicle. However, the purchase subsidy will also be extended to fleet operators (buyers) so that the benefit of subsidy can be given for a maximum of 10 vehicles in a unit vehicle fleet.

Know how much subsidy on which vehicle

  • The purchase subsidy applicable for buyers purchasing electric vehicles without batteries will be 50 percent of the total subsidy amount. At present, no time limit has been fixed for giving subsidy.
  • The first two lakh two-wheeler electric vehicles will be given a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle.
  • 25 thousand four wheeler electric vehicles purchased earlier will get subsidy to the extent of one lakh rupees per vehicle.
  • The initial 400 non-government e-buses will get the benefit of subsidy to the extent of Rs 20 lakh per vehicle.
  • The subsidy available to these vehicles can be only up to 15 percent of their production cost (at the factory).
  • Subsidy to the extent of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle will be available on the purchase of first 1000 electric goods vehicles.
