New Delhi. Veteran cricketer Virat Kohli has announced his/her retirement from T20 International cricket. Kohli’s decision has received a reaction from his/her childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma. Virat said goodbye to this format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli says that this is the time when he/she should say goodbye to this format. Virat’s record in T20 International cricket has been excellent. he/she is the second batsman after Rohit to score the most runs in this format. Kohli’s coach said that Virat has announced his/her retirement on a very big occasion. All the fans are disappointed and I have received so many phone calls since night asking why he/she did this.

Virat Kohli played an innings of 76 runs against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. he/she was adjudged the Player of the Match. Kohli said after the match that this T20 World Cup was his/her last series in this format. Now he/she wants to give a chance to the youth. Rajkumar Sharma was the first to congratulate the Indian team on its victory. he/she said, ‘First of all, I congratulate the entire team and the countrymen on becoming the world champion. Virat has retired at a very good time. India has won the World Cup and he/she was the Player of the Match in the final. It is a big moment and he/she has said goodbye to this format while being on a high.’

Rajkumar Sharma further said, after Kohli’s retirement announcement, all the fans are very disappointed and I have been getting phone calls since night asking why he/she did this. But the good thing is that he/she has set an example that you are leaving this format at a time when people are saying that you should not leave now and we need you. This is a good decision.

Kohli left Surya behind
Virat Kohli was selected Player of the Match for the 16th time in T20 International cricket. During this, he/she broke the record of Suryakumar Yadav who has been awarded this award 15 times in this format. Virat achieved this feat in 125 T20 International matches while Surya achieved the feat of becoming Player of the Match 15 times in 68 T20 matches.
