Thugs defrauded more than Rs 1700 crore

According to Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Centre, Indians have suffered a loss of Rs 1,750 crore in the first four months of the year 2024. For which more than 7 lakh 40 thousand people have filed fraud complaints. According to the report, 7 thousand complaints were filed every day from January to April. Out of which 85 percent complaints are of online fraud. Let us tell you that these cases are much more than in previous years.

Cyber ​​fraud cases gained momentum

The cases of cyber fraud in the country are increasing year by year. In the last five years, the graph of cyber fraud cases has been rapidly upward. If we look at the figures, only 26 thousand 49 cases of cyber crime were reported in the year 2019. After which the figure reached lakhs in 2020. In the year 2020, these cases increased to 2 lakh 57 thousand 777. After that, it reached 4 lakh 52 thousand 414 in 2021 and 9 lakh 66 thousand 790 in 2022. Last year, cases of cyber fraud in the country reached 15 lakh 56 thousand 218. There are only two reasons for the increase in the cases of cyber fraud, that cyber thugs are committing fraud in a new way every day, and secondly, there are still many people in the country who are careless about the ways to avoid cyber fraud. They show it and get lured by greed and become victims of these swindlers.

What kind of scams are most people falling into?

The biggest reason behind the increase in cyber fraud cases in our country is greed. Cyber ​​​​thugs are fooling the public by luring them with money. Let us tell you that this year, cyber thugs have committed a fraud of Rs 1420 crore through trading scam. More than 20 thousand cases were registered regarding this scam in the first four months. In which 4599 cases of digital arrest have been reported. In which people were defrauded of Rs 120 crore.
