Nuclear attack submarine program will change the defense ecosystem, understand how

New Delhi: Navy Chief Admiral D.K. Tripathi said India will soon build nuclear powered submarines (SSNs). This will further increase the strength of the Indian Navy. ‘Make in India’ will also be promoted through the first nuclear powered attack submarine. he/she said this in an interview given to our associate newspaper ET on Navy Day in Puri. The Navy chief claimed that the first nuclear powered submarine is expected to be ready by 2036. Negotiations for purchasing three more Kalvari class submarines and Rafale-M jet are in the final round. The Navy is on its way to 175 warships.

Navy Chief told future plan

Navy Chief Admiral D.K. Tripathi made a big announcement on the occasion of Navy Day in Puri. he/she told that India is going to build its own nuclear powered submarines (SSNs). This is a big thing for the Navy. This will increase the strength of the Navy manifold. ‘Make in India’ will also benefit greatly from this project. A big change will be seen in this sector in the next five years.

Nuclear powered attack submarine will arrive by 2036

Admiral Tripathi said that the first nuclear powered attack submarine is expected to be in service by 2036. This project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 35,000 crore. This money will be spent in the construction of the first two submarines. For this project, the Navy will follow the same model that was used in building nuclear missile submarines (SSBNs). That means the Navy will prepare the design and the defense industry will cooperate in the construction.

Next 5 years are very important – Admiral Tripathi

Admiral Tripathi said that I am happy that the government has confidence in our capability. We can design and build nuclear powered submarines ourselves. We have proven our worth in the SSBN program. We will move forward on the same model. Under the Arihant nuclear submarine programme, two submarines equipped with nuclear weapons have been built. he/she told that the first meeting of this project has taken place. A roadmap for the construction of two SSNs has been prepared.

Deal underway on Rafale M, Kalvari class submarine

BARC, Ship Building Centre, design agencies and private companies will be involved in this project. A meeting was held last month, in which a plan has been made to prepare the first SSN by 2036-37. Private sector will play an important role in this project. This will also affect small and medium industries. Admiral Tripathi hopes that the next five years will prove to be very important for ‘self-reliant India’. The Indian Navy is committed to becoming completely self-reliant by 2047.
