Now Olympiad will provide admission in IIT Kanpur, new scheme started, understand the process

IIT Kanpur Admission without JEE: If you want to take admission in IIT and are thinking of giving JEE Mains/JEE Advanced, then please read this news also. Because now you can take admission in IIT B.Tech regular course even without JEE. Through Olympiad. IIT Kanpur is going to implement this new scheme from this time onwards. Be it Maths Olympiad, Physics Olympiad, Chemistry or Biology Olympiad, IIT Kanpur will give admission to everyone.

IIT Olympiad: Start in 5 departments including CS

The institute has said that admission will be available in B.Tech and BS programs on the basis of Olympiad score. At present, it is being started in 5 departments of IIT Kanpur – Biological Sciences and Bio Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (CS), Chemistry, Economics and Mathematics and Statistics Department.

IIT Kanpur Olympiad Admission Qualification

In Biological Sciences and Bio-Engineering, admission will be done on the basis of Olympiad score of all the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology. If a student has Olympiad rank in more than one subject, the higher rank will be given priority. If students have same rank in Biology and Maths channel, then the rank of Mathematics will be considered. Whereas candidates with bio in Biology, Physics, Chemistry channel will get preference.

Whereas in Computer Science, admission will be done on the score of Maths and Informatics Olympiad. Admission in Chemistry Department will be based on the marks of Chemistry Olympiad. Whereas in Economics, Maths and Statistics, admission will be given on the basis of Maths Olympiad rank.

IIT Entrance: Will have to give written exam

It has been told that students will be shortlisted on the basis of Olympiad rank list. After that, a written examination will be taken which will be separate from JEE, but mandatory. Then if the department wants, it can take interview. This is not mandatory. After this the merit list of finally selected candidates will be released.

Detailed notification in this regard will be issued by the concerned department on the official website of IIT Kanpur. The institute has directed the departments to issue IIT Olympiad admission notices in the first week of March every year, apply by the end of March and take admissions by July.
