New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated a 13-km stretch of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS (regional rapid transit system) corridor. This part is from Sahibabad, Ghaziabad to New Ashok Nagar. With its launch, Meerut is now just 40 minutes away from Delhi. The fare for standard coach between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South station is Rs 150 and for premium coach is Rs 225. This is also the first underground section of ‘Namo Bharat’ train. The trains have reserved seats for women, elderly and disabled. The RRTS corridor with 11 stations between Delhi New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South is now operational. This service has started for the common people from 5 pm on Sunday. Trains will be available every 15 minutes. The fare for passengers from New Ashok Nagar station to Meerut South station has been kept at Rs 150 for standard coach and Rs 225 for premium coach.

10 big things about Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor

  1. A 42 km long stretch of the corridor with 9 stations between Sahibabad and Meerut South is operational for passengers.
  2. The operational section of NaMo Bharat Corridor will extend to 55 km, with a total of 11 stations.
  3. Namo Bharat train will be available for passengers at an interval of every 15 minutes from 5 pm on Sunday.
  4. The fare from New Ashok Nagar station, the first operational station in the direction of Meerut from Delhi, to Meerut South is Rs 150 for standard coach and Rs 225 for premium coach.
  5. With the commencement of operations on this section, Meerut city is now directly connected to the national capital Delhi through Namo Bharat Train.
  6. Passengers will be able to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 40 minutes. Till now, more than 50 lakh passengers have availed the benefit of traveling by Namo Bharat trains.
  7. Construction work is going on at a fast pace in the remaining sections of the corridor, i.e. New Ashok Nagar-Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South-Modipuram.
  8. In this new route, out of the 13 km section, 6 km is underground.
  9. This includes Anand Vihar, a major station on the corridor. This is the first time that Namo Bharat train will run in the underground section.
  10. Now connectivity between Delhi and Meerut will become better, trains will be available every 15 minutes. The train is equipped with amenities, including air conditioning, Wi-Fi and CCTV cameras.

PM Modi traveled by train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the 13 km long section of Delhi-Meerut NaMo Bharat Corridor between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar. After this, the PM scanned the QR code and took a train ticket and traveled. School children were also seen accompanying him/her during this journey. During this, he/she also interacted with some school children. The children also gave gifts to the Prime Minister. The children lovingly presented their hand-made posters and paintings to PM Modi.
