Now IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti has revealed the medicinal properties of cow urine, created an uproar.

There has been debate many times in the country on the medicinal properties of cow urine. There have been contradictory claims regarding this. Some say that cow urine is healthy while others make fun of this claim. Now a video of IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti is being shared on social media in which he/she is seen praising the ‘medicinal properties’ of cow urine. According to PTI report, Kamakoti is seen in the video endorsing the ‘anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and digestive properties’ of cow urine. he/she also claimed that it is used for diseases like irritable bowel syndrome. The IIT Madras director was attending an event organized at a cow-protection center in Chennai. he/she also narrated an anecdote about a monk who consumed cow urine when he/she had high fever. According to PTI, sources in the institute have confirmed that Kamakoti has told these things. he/she also informed that being an ‘organic farmer’, he/she had spoken at the Gaushala event. his/her comment had a broader context.


We searched Kamakoti on social media X and found some of his/her videos. In one video he/she is playing musical instruments and in the other he/she is circling the village singing bhajans.

Opposition to Kamakoti’s claim

Meanwhile, the IIT Madras director’s comments have drawn criticism from members of the Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Congress leader Karti P Chidambaram condemned the remarks and alleged that the IIT Madras director was propagating ‘pseudoscience’. Tagging the Indian Medical Association, he/she wrote, ‘It is highly inappropriate for the Director of IIT Madras to promote pseudoscience.’ Meanwhile, DMK leader TKS Ilangovan also criticized the director’s remarks and demanded that he/she be transferred from the institute. The DMK leader told our associate news channel Times Now, ‘he/she should be transferred from IIT and posted in a government medical college. What will they do in IIT? It is related to engineering and other fields. he/she further said, ‘he/she should be posted as director in AIIMS. The government should immediately remove him/her from IIT and appoint someone as the director of AIIMS.
