Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned to strengthen the Indian Army. In his/her tenure of 8 years, PM Modi has done that, knowing about which even your chest will swell with pride. PM Modi has gifted the most important highway connecting Kashmir to Ladakh. Its total length is 31 km, including the 13 km long “Zojila Tunnel”. Which is very important for India from a strategic point of view.
Let us tell you that the road connecting Kashmir to Ladakh used to get cut off due to the snowfall in the winter season. Anyway, the old route was so long that it used to take days and days for the soldiers to reach Ladakh from Kashmir even in normal weather. But now even the chilling winter and snowstorm of the Kashmir Valley will not be able to block the path of the Indian soldiers. In just a few minutes, army personnel and their vehicles will reach from Kashmir to Ladakh through the “Zojila tunnel” being built in the valley to trample the enemy’s chest. Its construction will be completed by the year 2026.
Tunnel being built at Zojila Pass at an altitude of 11,578 feet
The construction work of the strategically important Zojila tunnel connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Ladakh region is going on in full swing and about 40 per cent of the excavation work has been completed. The construction company expects the project to be completed by December, 2026. The tunnel project under construction at Zojila Pass at an altitude of 11,578 feet on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh National Highway assumes strategic importance as the highway is closed during winters due to heavy snowfall, cutting off the Ladakh region from the Kashmir Valley. The Zojila tunnel will connect Baltal in Kashmir’s Ganderbal district via a miniway to Drass town in Kargil district in Ladakh.
The length of the tunnel will be 13 km in the 31 kilometer route.
There is an 18 km long link road from Sonamarg to Baltal while the length of the main tunnel is 13 km. This project of the Government of India is very revolutionary. The total length of the project from Sonamarg to Minimarg is 31 km. There is a 18 kilometer long route from Sonamarg to Baltal and then a 13 kilometer main tunnel from Baltal to Minimarg. Due to frequent avalanches in January, work had to be stopped for two months. The Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Road Transport and Highways, headed by Union minister Nitin Gadkari, is arriving on Monday to inspect the project.
