Not Yashasvi, Dinesh Karthik wants to see him/her opening with Rohit in the Champions Trophy, he/she has scored 6 centuries

New Delhi. The ICC Champions Trophy will be played in 2025. There are still many questions about the venue. However, its decision will be taken after a few days. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has made a big statement about the batting combination in the Champions Trophy. Karthik says that Yashasvi Jaiswal should not come to open with Rohit Sharma in the Champions Trophy. Karthik has expressed confidence in Shubman Gill.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “The combination of Rohit and Shubman is very good. Yes, Jaiswal has a great chance to become a backup opener and if Shubman does not perform as expected, he/she will get a chance soon. India also has good middle order batsmen. They have to play three more matches before the Champions Trophy and I am sure that Rohit and Shubman will open in the Champions Trophy.”

Shubman Gill was recently made the vice-captain of the team in place of KL Rahul in ODIs and Hardik Pandya in T20s. Gill has scored 6 centuries and 1 double century in his/her ODI career. India has to play only three ODIs before the Champions Trophy. The Rohit Sharma-led team will play the ODI series in the first half of February just before this big event. It remains to be seen who comes to open the innings.

Talking about Yashasvi Jaiswal, he/she has not yet made his/her ODI debut for India. he/she has performed very well in T20 and Test cricket so far. The 22-year-old player has an excellent List A record. This left-handed player has scored 1,511 runs in 32 innings at an average of 53.96. This includes five centuries and seven half-centuries. he/she has also scored a double century.
