New Delhi. Rohit Sharma has announced his/her retirement from T20 International. After Rohit, it is almost certain that Hardik Pandya will captain Team India in T20 International. Meanwhile, a BCCI source has said that KL Rahul will lead the ODI team for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

A BCCI source said, “Hardik Pandya is all set to lead the Indian team in the T20 format after Rohit Sharma’s retirement. he/she is unlikely to be rested for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. In ODIs, KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma as the BCCI believes that he/she is known for scoring runs in the longer format.”

Rahul’s captaincy record in ODIs
KL Rahul has captained India on many occasions in ODI matches. So far KL Rahul has captained India in 12 ODI matches. During this time he/she has won 8 matches. At the same time, he/she has faced defeat in 4 matches. Now it remains to be seen how he/she performs against Sri Lanka. Let us tell you that Team India will play 3 ODIs on the Sri Lanka tour. The first ODI will be played on August 2, the second on August 4, while the third ODI will be played on August 7.

Will work under Gambhir’s coaching
