Born on 24 December 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh, British Panja. Mohammed Rafi received six Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award. In the year 1967, the Government of India honored him/her with Padma Shri. Out of total 28 thousand songs, he/she recorded about 7000 songs for films of different languages. But the interesting thing is that Dilip Kumar is the last in this list of top-10.

Sung maximum 190 songs for Shammi Kapoor

According to the book, Mohammed Rafi sang maximum 190 songs for Shammi Kapoor. These include songs like ‘Deewana Hua Badal’ to ‘Yeh Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ and ‘Badan Pe Sitaare’. The second name in the list is very interesting. After Shammi Kapoor, the actor for whom Rafi Sahab sang the most songs is John Walker. For which he/she has sung a total of 155 songs. Shashi Kapoor is at third place in the list with 129 songs. Rajendra Kumar with 112 songs, he/she sang 109 songs for Dharmendra, while he/she sang 100 songs for Dev Anand.

Mohammed Rafi sang 77 songs for Dilip Kumar

Jitendra’s name is also included in this top-10 list of Rafi Sahab, for whom he/she sang 100 songs. Next is Mehmood, for whom he/she sang 85 songs, 80 for Bharat Bhushan and the least in the list, he/she sang 77 songs for Dilip Kumar.

Mohammed Rafi left his/her indelible mark in the era when there were singers like Mukesh, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Talat Mehmood and Hemant Kumar in the industry. From 1950 to 1960, Rafi Saheb was on top in Binaka Geetmala Records. After this the era of Kishore Kumar started. Rafi Sahab left the world of cinematic music and all of us in 1980, when a heart attack took his/her life on July 31 at the age of 55.

Well, call it a coincidence or something else. There is a strange similarity in the deaths of Rafi, Mukesh and Kishore Kumar, three stalwarts of the world of Hindi cinematic music. All three died at the age of 50-60. What’s more, these three artists, who ruled the hearts and healed every heart with their voice, died due to heart attack. Mukesh died in 1976 at the age of 53, and Kishore Kumar died in 1987 at the age of 58.
