No one should retire in politics, why did Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge say so

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said that no one should ‘retire’ from politics because whoever wants to serve the nation will have to do it for life and awaken the country. he/she made this remark on the occasion of the release of the book ‘The Five Decades in Politics’ based on the political life of former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The author of this book is senior journalist Rashid Kidwai.

‘No one should retire in politics’

Referring to Shinde’s age and long political career, Kharge said, “No one should retire in politics. One who believes in his/her ideology, who wants to serve the nation, will have to awaken the country throughout his/her life.” he/she stressed that in public life, thoughts, conduct and propaganda are all important.

‘Ideology, conduct and propaganda are essential for a party’

he/she said, ‘For any party, its ideas, conduct and publicity are important, only then it can move forward. If your ideas are good, but they are not put into practice, then there is no use of it. Therefore, those who have come forward by working hard, they should get publicity.’ Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge said that he/she does less work and more publicity. he/she also said that if everyone did not get the right to vote at the time of independence, then the upliftment of the poor and the deprived would not have been possible.

‘It is everyone’s responsibility to save the constitution’

The Congress President said, “This is the gift of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The Constitution changed the lives of people by giving universal adult franchise. Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to protect it.” he/she said, “Sushil Kumar Shinde traveled from khaki to khadi with his/her simple nature, hard work and cheerful behavior.”

Vice Presidential election mentioned

Later, Kharge said in a post on ‘X’, “An important chapter in the book written on Shinde is the Vice President election. Congress President Sonia Gandhi had made Shinde ji the Vice Presidential candidate against Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. Shinde’s name was proposed by Sharad Pawar, who himself was a close friend of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.” he/she said that in the Vice Presidential election, Shekhawat ji got 454 votes, while Shinde ji got 305 votes. In the Vice Presidential election held so far, Shinde ji has got the highest number of votes as an opposition candidate.
