No one should get undue advantage due to access to power… Congress fired sharp arrows at Modi by citing Adani

New Delhi: Congress has started sharp attacks on Modi Government 3.0. In the same sequence, Congress said on Saturday that the government should ensure that the situation of competition remains among corporate groups. Also, monopoly of any one group should not be established in any sector and acquisitions should be done in a free and fair manner. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that it is also important to ensure that no one gets unfair advantage due to access to power. his/her comment came after the Adani Group acquired ‘Penna Cements’, strengthening its stake in the cement sector in South India. Ramesh posted on ‘X’, ‘You understand the chronology. In September 2022, Adani acquired Ambuja Cement and ACC, making it the second largest cement company in the country. In August 2023, Adani acquired Sanghi Industries. In June 2024, Adani acquired ‘Penna Cements’.

Quoting former RBI deputy governor Viral Acharya, he/she said the renowned financial economist had confirmed that five big groups, including Adani, are establishing monopolies in 40 sectors, including the cement sector. Ramesh said the government should ensure that a few corporate groups do not establish monopolies in any sector.
