NIA clamps down on Jaish-e-Mohammed, raids 19 locations in 8 states of the country

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency on Thursday raided 19 locations in eight states to expose the activities being done by the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed to radicalize the youth and make them terrorists through online and offline methods. During this period, the NIA team also had to face opposition at many places. Especially in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, where the NIA team wanted to interrogate a suspected madrasa owner.

NIA said that this operation was conducted in the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) terrorist conspiracy case. In this, raids were conducted at 19 locations in the states of Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Gujarat. These include Goalpara of Assam, Aurangabad of Maharashtra, Mumbai, Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh, Bareilly, Deoband, Saharanpur, Sitamarhi of Bihar, Hooghly of West Bengal, Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir, Reasi, Budgam, Anantnag, Dungarpur of Rajasthan and Mehsana of Gujarat. Many objectionable documents seized

During this, the teams seized many objectionable documents and electronic devices. Which includes mobile phones, pen drives, CDs, hard disks etc. In this case, a suspected accused named Sheikh Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi was arrested in a case registered in October. Ayubi is accused of working for terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. In which it is alleged that he/she is working to circulate propaganda material related to JeM and to radicalize and recruit youth into JeM inspired Jamaat organizations. NIA has described the accused as the main operative of Jaish-e-Mohammed. This raid, conducted on December 12, was conducted at the locations of Ayyubi’s close associates.

Raids also conducted in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha

On the other hand, NIA conducted raids in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in connection with another Chintur (Andhra Pradesh) Maoist supply chain case. This raid was conducted in the premises belonging to seven accused in this case. Which was originally registered by Chintoor police after the arrest of two accused. When the police stopped and arrested both of them. Then explosives, objectionable literature and cash were found from them. In this case, NIA took over the investigation in September 2024. During investigation, it was found that a large network is involved in the supply of explosive materials and logistics support to the underground workers of the banned organization CPI (Maoist). The objective of the conspiracy was to carry out various terrorist acts including the killing of policemen engaged on election duty. Investigation is going on in the matter.
