Neither the government nor the common man had any apprehension of such a terrible flood. The floods forced thousands of people living on the banks of the Yamuna river to live on the streets. For the last several days, it rained heavily in entire North India including Delhi, due to which the water level of Yamuna river increased. Because of this, a flood-like situation was created in the low-lying areas of Delhi. However, late on Sunday night the water level of Yamuna came down below the danger mark. According to information, the water level of Yamuna in Delhi was recorded at 205.5 meters at 11 pm.
CM announced to help flood victims
Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced relief to the flood-affected people. Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that many very poor families living on the banks of Yamuna have suffered a lot. In some families, the entire household goods were washed away. Announcing this, the CM said that the government will give Rs 10,000 per family to every flood-affected family as financial assistance. Along with this, special camps will be organized for those whose papers like Aadhaar card etc. have been washed away. On the other hand, the children whose dress and books were washed away in this flood, will be given these by the schools.
Let us inform that after almost 5 decades the water level of Yamuna river has reached such a height in Delhi. Due to heavy rains and rising water level of the river, the low-lying areas of Delhi were flooded. Water entered the houses. With this the people who had houses and huts on the banks of the Yamuna were completely ruined. After this all the people are living on the streets.
