New Zealand will play a 6-day Test for the second time in 3 years, know when India played such a long match

New Delhi. Test matches in cricket may seem boring to T20 fans, but there was a time when these matches used to be of six days. There used to be a day of rest in between. As the popularity of ODI matches increased, 6-day test matches disappeared from the scene. For the last 34-35 years, only 5-day tests have been played. But do you know that New Zealand is going to play a six-day test match next month. This will be the second time in about 3 years that the Kiwi team will play a six-day test match.

New Zealand will tour India next month. There will be a test match between New Zealand and Afghanistan in India. The Kiwi team will leave for Sri Lanka after this. The first test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is proposed between 18 and 23 September. There will be a rest day on the fourth day of this six-day match.

Before this, the last six-day Test match was played between India and New Zealand. This was the WTC Final 2021 match. An extra day was kept in this match so that if the game is affected due to weather or any other reason, then the result can come. The first day of the WTC Final was washed out due to rain.

Now come to Sri Lanka and New Zealand six day match But there is a special reason for making this match of six days. This reason is the presidential election in Sri Lanka. Voting is to be held on the fourth day during the match. Due to this, there will be almost a holiday atmosphere in the country and there will be a rest day in the test match as well.

This will be only the second time in the 21st century that a Test match will be played for six days. If we leave aside these two matches, the last six-day match was played between Sri Lanka and West Indies in 1993. Australia last played a six-day match against Pakistan in 1990. England last played a six-day Test match with New Zealand in 1978.
