New Zealand gets new captain, will take charge of Williamson

New Delhi. The New Zealand Cricket Board has finally announced the new captain for the white ball format. he/she has officially declared all-rounder Mitchell Santner as the captain of the team in place of Kane Williamson. Kane Williamson had resigned from the captaincy after poor performance in the T20 World Cup. he/she had also excluded himself from the central contract of New Zealand. Kane Williamson had already left the captaincy of the Test team, after which Tim Southee and Tom Latham took over the captaincy of the team.

Talking about Mitchell Santner, he/she has led the team in white ball matches many times. After getting the full responsibility of captaincy, Santner said that it is a great honor for him/her. he/she said, ‘It is obviously a great honor and privilege to be asked to captain you. When you’re young your dream is always to play for New Zealand, but to get the opportunity to officially lead your country across two formats is special. This is a new challenge and I am excited about it.

Talking about Mitchell Santner’s experience in international matches, he/she has played 243 matches. he/she has also captained in 24 T20 and 4 ODI matches. Now it remains to be seen whether he/she can make the New Zealand team champion in the Champions Trophy to be held next year or not.
