New time has come for the launch of Mission Gaganyaan, ISRO Chief Somnath told each and every thing


New Delhi : The eyes of the country as well as the world are on India’s Mission Gagan. People are eagerly waiting for the launch of ISRO’s mission Gaganyaan. ISRO Chief S Somnath put forward many information regarding the country’s important mission. While delivering the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture on All India Radio on Saturday, Somnath also revealed the new dates of some important upcoming missions of ISRO.

Mission Gaganyaan in 2026

Regarding the manned space mission Gaganyaan, ISRO Chief said that it will probably be launched in 2026. According to Somnath, Mission Chandrayaan-4 is expected to be launched by 2028. Apart from this, the India-US joint NISAR mission, which is running much behind schedule, may finally be launched next year. Stressing the need for greater indigenization of space technology, ISRO Chairman S Somnath said India is aiming to increase its contribution to the global space economy from the current 2 per cent to at least 10 per cent in the next decade.

Chandrayaan-5 will be launched in 2028

The ISRO chairman revealed that the joint moon-landing mission with Japan’s space agency JAXA, which was originally named LUPEX or Lunar Polar Exploration, will be the Chandrayaan-5 mission. he/she did not mention the expected time frame for the launch. The LUPEX mission was earlier scheduled to be launched within the 2025 time frame, but has now been described as Chandrayaan-5. In such a situation, this can be expected only after 2028 when Chandrayaan-4 is scheduled.

Human mission to the moon in 2040

Somnath said that LUPEX would be a very heavy mission. In this, the lander will be provided by India, while the rover will come from Japan. The weight of the rover on Chandrayaan-3 was only 27 kg. But this mission will carry a 350 kg rover. It’s a science-heavy mission that will take us one step closer to landing humans on the Moon. India has revealed plans to send a manned mission to the Moon by 2040.

Space center unit by 2028

The Union Cabinet in September approved the fourth mission to the Moon and also gave the green signal for the construction of the first unit of the Indian Space Station (BAS) by 2028. The government envisioned an Indian space station by 2035 and landing an Indian on the lunar surface by 2040. To move towards this goal, the Cabinet approved the development of the first module of BAS-1.
