New rule came for PhD, now teachers above 62 years will not be able to do new research work

UGC new rule for PhD: University Grants Commission (UGC) has come out with a new rule for PhD. Under this rule, teachers above 62 years cannot get new research work done. Researchers cannot choose teachers who are 62 years or more as guides. However, if any research work is already going on under him, he will complete it but will not start new research. UGC has issued a guideline for this.

New rule made due to this rule

UGC has also taken out a new rule for PhD candidates. Under this, these candidates will have to complete the research work within at least three years. For this reason, teachers of 62 years are prohibited to make guides for new research work. In this case the teachers will reach their retirement age i.e. 65 years and the research of the candidate will not be completed. Because of this, 62 year old teachers are not allowed to be guides for new research work.

The guideline will also depend on this

The new guideline of UGC will be applicable in the universities of Bihar only after it is approved by the Raj Bhavan. In this regard, experts also say that the implementation of the new guideline will also depend on what kind of resources are available in the universities of the country or the state.

Quality of research work is important

In the current situation, many times it happens that when the retirement age of the guide approaches, somehow the research work is completed. This lowers the quality of research. To prevent this, a new guideline has been brought because it is as important as the completion of research, equally important is its quality maintenance.

This rule is under consideration

According to media reports, a new rule has been made for teachers to conduct research till the age of 70 years even after completing the retirement age of 65 years, the draft of which is currently under consideration in the Raj Bhavan. Under this, if a teacher has become the guide of a student before retirement, then even after retirement, he will be able to complete his research work till the age of 70 years. However, even before this draft came, the UGC made the minimum limit for researchers to complete research work 3 years.
