New OTT Release: From ‘Squid Game 2’ to ‘Khoj’ and ‘Gladiator 2’, 6 powerful series and films this week

The last week of the year 2024 has started. From celebrating Christmas to welcoming the New Year, we all have some plan or the other. Some are going on a trip with friends and family, while others are preparing for a huge party with their loved ones. However, amidst all this, there is going to be a stir on OTT in this last week. While Season 2 of the South Korean survival thriller series ‘Squid Game’ is about to be released after three years, there will also be a ‘discovery’ on the other side of the shadows. Squid Game Season 2 (December 26)

South Korean survival thriller series ‘Squid Game’ made a lot of headlines in 2021. It is among the most watched shows on OTT. Now after three years its second season is being released. The story progresses with Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who returns to the deadly competition three years after his/her victory in the previous season. This time he/she is trying to destroy this terrible organization from within. She will also be joined by new contestants Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun. After winning this dreaded game show, you will get an amount of 45.6 billion won (266 crores). This time the game will be more dangerous than before. Squid Game season 2 series will be released on OTT platform Netflix on December 26.

Search: Parchaiyon Ke Uss Paar (December 27)

‘Khoj: Parchhaiyon Ke Us Paar’ is a Hindi web series. The story revolves around Ved (Sharib Hashmi), who is out in search of his/her missing wife Meera. Meera has mysteriously disappeared. But there is turmoil in this world of Veda when the character of Anupriya Goenka enters. Everyone calls her Meera, even her daughter. This girl also shows evidence to prove her identity. But Ved is sure that she is not his/her wife. As he/she uncovers mysterious clues, Veda becomes entangled in reality and illusion. This series ‘Khoj: Beyond the Shadows’ will stream on OTT platform ZEE5 on 27th December.

Doctor (27 December)

Doctors is a Hindi web series. It stars Harleen Sethi, Aamir Ali, Viraf Patel and Vivaan Shah in lead roles along with Sharad Kelkar. The story is set in the prestigious Elizabeth Blackwell Medical Center of Mumbai. Dr. Nitya Vasu (Harleen Sethi) is an ambitious surgical resident who wants to eliminate Dr. Ishaan Ahuja (Sharad Kelkar). Ishaan is a famous neurosurgeon. Nitya feels that Ishaan is responsible for crashing her brother’s career. However, when Nitya is forced to work with Ishaan, new layers to the story open up. The series unfolds the tale of a complex web of ambition, love and betrayal amid a medical emergency. You can watch it on OTT platform JioCinema from 27th December.

Gladiator II (23 December)

The audience is eagerly waiting for ‘Gladiator II’. This film was released in theaters on 15 November. The story takes place several years after the death of Maximus. It revolves around Lucius. The powerful emperors of Rome have taken over his/her house. he/she has to enter the Colosseum. The film stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington. This film will be released on OTT platform Prime Video on 23 December.

Genesis (25 December)

This film by Oscar Award nominated director Ava DuVernay is based on Isabel Wilkerson’s book ‘Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents’. Released in the year 2023, this film is a biographical drama, which tells the story of Isabel Wilkerson. In the film, Augeneau Ellis-Taylor plays Isabel, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. Their journey takes them from the horrific ruins of Nazi Germany to the entrenched caste divide in India and racial inequalities in the United States. The film also stars Jon Bernthal, Niecy Nash, Emily Yancey and Vera Farmiga. The film ‘Origin’ will be released on OTT platform Netflix on December 25.

Your Mistake (27th December)

‘Your Fault’ is also a sequel film. It is the sequel to ‘My Fault’ released in the year 2023. The film is about Noah (Nicole Wallace) and Nick (Gabriel Guevara). Both their parents want to separate them, but despite this both try to maintain their romance. While Noah takes admission in university, Nick focuses on his/her career. Meanwhile, there are also challenges in relationships. Nick’s ex-girlfriend is also back for revenge. The film is based on the second novel in Mercedes Ron’s ‘Culpables Trilogy’, ‘Culpa Tuya’. This also leaves the story open ended for ‘Our Fault’ (Culpa Nuestra), the last installment of this franchise. You will be able to watch this film on OTT platform Prime Video from December 27.
