New OTT release: From ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba’ to ‘Ghodchadhi’, 11 movies and series this week

The second week of August has begun. While films are flopping in theatres, OTT is continuously making a splash. This week there is a lot of special things for Indian viewers on OTT platforms. While the sequel of Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey’s crime-thriller film ‘Haseen Dilruba’ ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba’ is releasing, after a long time Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon will share the screen together in a new romantic comedy ‘Ghodchadhi’. Raghav Juyal, who has garnered a lot of praise in the film ‘Kill’, is also bringing his/her new thriller web series ‘Gyaarah Gyaarah’, while the final season of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ will also be released this week. Then came Haseen Dillruba (9 August)

This is the sequel to the 2021 romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dilruba’. The story is once again an example of love, deception and passion. Recently its trailer was released, which got a tremendous response. The story of this new film will start from where the previous one ended. Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) are trying to add color to their life again by escaping the world in Agra. But then Abhimanyu (Sunny Kaushal) enters the story, who is a new storm of emotions for Rani. The suspense increases further when the revenge-ridden police officer Mrityunjay (Jimmy Shergill) comes to increase the trouble of Rani and Rishu. This film will be released on Netflix on OTT on August 9.

Horse riding (9 August)

This is a funny romantic comedy. The story is about Chirag (Parth Samthan) and Devika (Khushali Kumar), who are convincing their families for marriage. But the story gets more interesting when Chirag’s father Colonel Veer Sharma (Sanjay Dutt) meets his/her long lost love Menaka (Raveena Tandon). The romance between these two starts blossoming again. The twist in the story is that Menaka is none other than Devika’s mother. Now the question is whether the father will do the Ghudchadhi first or the son? Directed by Binoy Gandhi, this film will be released on OTT platform Jio Cinema on August 9.

Eleven Eleven (9 August)

‘Gyaarah Gyaar’ is like its title, a story of the twists and turns of time. This is a fictional thriller web series, which intricately weaves the events that happened in three decades – 1990, 2001 and 2016. A police team is trying to solve old closed cases. But there is a mysterious walkie-talkie, which connects two police officers (Raghav Juyal and Dhairya Karva) of different times at exactly 11:11 pm. As they delve deeper into these cases with mutual help, hidden truths start coming out. Kritika Kamra is also in an important role in this series. ‘Gyaarah Gyaar’ web series is releasing on 9 August on OTT platform Zee5.

Life Shaken (9 August)

Fans missed Munna Bhaiya aka Divyendu a lot in the recently released ‘Mirzapur 3’. However, he/she is now coming in the comedy-drama ‘Life Hil Gayi’ with Kusha Kapila. Both are playing the role of brother and sister, who are pitted against each other to get their ancestral property. Their grandfather (Kabir Bedi) challenges both of them to restore the family’s hotel ‘Good Morning Woods Villa’ located in the beautiful hills of Uttarakhand. To win, they have to give a new look to the hotel. But for this, they have to deal with the lazy employees, put an end to the rumor of the hotel being haunted. Mukti Mohan and Vinay Pathak are also in this web series. ‘Life Hil Gayi’ web series will be released on OTT platform Disney + Hotstar on August 9.

Romance in the House (August 9)

For K-drama fans, ‘Romance in the House’ is a new South Korean series that revolves around Byeon Moo-jin. he/she returns to his/her family’s life after twelve years. his/her return as a failed businessman, a rich landlord causes turmoil in the family. his/her wife Geum A-yeon has raised their children Mi-rae and Hyun-jae alone in these 12 years. In such a situation, Moo-jin works hard to win back the love of his/her wife A-yeon. This K-drama series will be released on OTT platform Netflix on August 9.

Django (August 9)

The story is set in the 1800s. The series centers on Django (Matthias Schoenaerts), a tired and skilled gunman. he/she is looking for his/her daughter Sarah. Sarah was once reported to have died in a family massacre many years ago. But after finding his/her daughter alive in New Babylon, a city inhabited by outcasts, Django begins to look for her. In this journey, he/she encounters his/her past. This web series is an English remake of Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Italian film of the same name. Django Aagaam will be released on Lionsgate Play on August 9.

One Fast Move (August 8)

KJ Apa plays Wes Neil in this high-octane action film. he/she is passionate about motorcycle racing. But he/she is dishonorably discharged from the army for his/her involvement in drag racing. Wes searches for his/her estranged father Dean Miller (Eric Dane), who is an ex-motorcycle racing champion. As Wes delves deeper into the world of supersport motorcycle racing, he/she faces the pressure to be even better than his/her father. The series is releasing on OTT platform Prime Video on August 8.

Shahmaran Season 2 (8 August)

The first season of this Turkish drama series gained immense popularity. The story is about the half woman and half snake queen Shahmaran. After the events of the first season, Shahsu, a psychology lecturer in Istanbul, is entangled in an ancient prophecy that hints at Shahmaran’s union with Maran, a mysterious figure deeply connected to this legend, and her reincarnation. As Shahsu and Maran move forward amid increasing tension, ominous signs and strange events begin to occur. The series is releasing on OTT platform Netflix on August 8.

The Color Purple (August 8)

This is a musical and live recreation of Alice Walker’s famous novel ‘The Color Purple’. It is the painful but courageous story of Celie Harris (Fantasia Barrino). The story is set in 1900s America, where Celie faces constant abuse from her father Alphonso (Deon Cole) and husband Albert ‘Mister’ Johnson (Colman Domingo). But her life changes when women like Sophia (Danielle Brooks) and jazz singer Shug Avery (Taraji P. Henson) join her. The film will stream on JioCinema from August 8.

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 (August 8)

The very popular web series ‘The Umbrella Academy’ has reached its final season. In this, the Hargreeves siblings are pushed into a new timeline. Their powers are taken away and they are separated from each other on different paths. The story is about their struggle and overcoming it. Victor now works in a beer bar. Diego becomes a father in a city and Ben deals with his/her dark past. Their father Reginald Hargreeves runs a powerful empire. ‘The Umbrella Academy Season 4’ is releasing on Netflix on August 8.

Lolo and the Kid (August 7)

Set in the city of Manila, the film is the story of a conman and a child who is in his/her care. The duo is full of planning and plotting. They target rich people to fulfill their needs. However, their unbreakable bond is put to the test. The film is releasing on Netflix on August 7.
