New OTT Release: From ‘Moonwalk’ to ‘Paani’ and ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh’, watch 8 new films and series this week

A new week has started from Monday, December 16. With this, the opportunity has come when we should also make plans for our upcoming weekend. Well, if you are planning an outing somewhere with family and friends then it is a different matter, but if you are preparing to spend quality time with your loved ones and friends at home, then this week there are 8 movies for you in the OTT box. New releases are movies and web series. These include drama, thriller, action and also documentary. On one hand, a glimpse of the sensational rapper’s life is going to be seen in the documentary ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh’ of Oscar-winning Guneet Monga’s production house, while on the other hand, the unique love story of two thieves ‘Moonwalk’ will also be seen. The unmatched Malayalam film ‘Paani’ and our favorite CID Season 2 is also going to hit the screens this week. So what are you waiting for, see the list of films and series to be released on OTT from Monday 16th December to Sunday 22nd December-

Moonwalk (20 December)

‘Moonwalk’ is a fun web series, which is the story of two thieves, Tariq Pandey and Maddy Kapoor. Both of them have the same heartbeat, Chandni Lakhani. Both of them compete with each other to win Chandni’s heart. Now the interesting condition is that the beloved will give her heart to the one who will bring the most precious thing to Chandni. The twist in the story is that a piece of rock from the Moon breaks and falls on Earth! Now, who wins this piece between Tariq and Maddy, who gets the moonlight, will be known only by watching this series. Sameer Kochhar, Anshuman Pushkar and Nidhi Singh are in lead roles in this series. Moonwalk is going to be released this week on 20th December on OTT platform Jio Cinema.

Water (20 December)

The Malayalam film ‘Paani’, released in October this year, has received a lot of praise. This is an action-thriller film, directed by Joju George. he/she is also playing the lead role in this film. The story is about a married couple whose life is thrown into turmoil due to two criminals. Apart from Joju George, the film also stars Sagar Surya, Merlette Ann Thomas, Bobby Kurian, Juneaz VP in lead roles. ‘Paani’ will be released on OTT platform Sony LIV on December 20.

CID Season 2 (December 21)

CID is one of the most loved and longest running shows in the Indian TV world. Its first season began in 1998 and ended in 2018 with 1547 episodes. Now preparations are on for season 2. Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman is back with his/her gang. Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya are also returning as Aditya Srivastava and Daya Shetty. Season 2 of CID will air from 21st December every Saturday and Sunday at 10 PM on Sony TV and Sony LIV app.

Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous (20 December)

Guneet Monga, who won the Oscar for ‘The Elephant Whispers’, is now bringing a documentary on the life of Hirdesh Singh i.e. Yo Yo Honey Singh. Yo Yo Honey Singh is the music icon of the country. There is no doubt that Honey Singh made rap music and hip-hop music very popular among the youth in the country. But his/her stardom also saw a period when he/she was away from everyone for a long time. In this documentary, we will get to see the story of Honey Singh becoming a star and his/her downfall. There will be some unknown stories, some unseen footage. Makers say that everyone knows star Honey Singh, this documentary will introduce people to Hirdesh Singh. This documentary film will be streamed on OTT platform Netflix from December 20.

Girls Will Be Girls (December 18)

‘Girls Will Be Girls’ is an Indian-French film set in a boarding school and beautiful valleys of the Himalayas. This is the story of 16 year old Meera (Preeti Panigrahi). Meera is of a slightly rebellious nature. his/her troubled sexuality continues to haunt him/her as he/she grows older. Shri (Kesav Binoy Kiran) enters her life. Meera’s attraction for Shri is increasing. But her widowed mother Anila (Kani Kusruti) keeps a close eye on her daughter. She explains to Meera that her and Shree’s relationship is bad for the society and is just her own frustration. To know what turn the story takes next, you will have to wait for December 18 when the film will be released on Prime Video.

Twisters (18 December)

‘Twister’ is the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster film. This is a heart-pounding thriller of storm chasing. Made on America’s Tornado Alley, this film dives into the lives of many people struggling with it simultaneously. It shows us how challenging it is to face the most destructive forces of nature. Oscar nominee Lee Isaac Chung has directed it. The film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos and Kiernan Shipka. ‘Twisters’ will be released on OTT platform Jio Cinema on December 18.

Virgin River Season 6 (December 19)

This time the sixth season of the very famous web series ‘Virgin River’ is going to take the audience on a trip to Northern California. Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) are finally getting married. As preparations proceed, Mel Monroe discovers a shocking truth about her biological father, Everett Reed (John Alan Nelson). The story goes into flashbacks to the 1970s and reveals the family’s hidden past. Meanwhile, Preacher (Colin Lawrence) also has to confront his/her past misdeeds. This series will be released on OTT platform Netflix on December 19.

Six Triple Eight (20 December)

‘The Six Triple Eight’ is the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. This battalion was the only core unit of black and female soldiers deployed overseas in World War II. Led by Major Charity Adams (Kerry Washington), 855 women faced racism, gender discrimination and the harshest of conditions. This unit cleared a two-year backlog of 17 million letters and packages destined for American troops throughout Europe. Despite rat-infested warehouses and rough shelter, the unit completed its six-month mission in just 90 days. The two-hour and seven-minute film also stars Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon and Sam Waterston. This film will be released on OTT platform Netflix on December 20.
