New OTT Release: Deadpool-Wolverine’s bromance, Partition’s story and that murderer, 8 new films-series

The second week of November has started. The festivals of Diwali and Chhath have passed. The race for schools, colleges and offices has also started. Even though no new film was released in theaters last Friday, there is a lot in the OTT box this week, especially during the weekend. On one hand, Nikhil Advani’s series ‘Freedom at Midnight’ is being released, which takes us closer to the Indian freedom movement, on the other hand, Marvel’s blockbuster film ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will also now be available without rent. Deadpool and Wolverine (November 12)

The 34th film of Marvel Cinematic Universe ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ created a lot of buzz in theatres. The pairing of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and their bromance grossed more than Rs 11,300 crore worldwide. This film was available for rent on OTT last month. But now you will be able to watch it without rent. The story begins with the Time Variant Authority (TVA), where Deadpool has to save the universe from apocalypse within the timeline of the MCU. For this he/she needs Wolverine’s support. he/she travels to different multiuniverses and when the two meet, they create a stir. Independence at midnight (15 November)

Inspired by the book ‘Freedom at Midnight’ by Dominic Lapierre and Larry Collins, the series is a historical drama. Nikhil Advani has directed it. he/she has also named the series after the novel, which shows the socio-political complexities surrounding India’s independence and the partition of 1947. The series stars Siddhant Gupta in the role of Jawaharlal Nehru, Chirag Vohra as Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Chawla as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Arif Zakaria as Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Apart from this, Ira Dubey plays the character of Fatima Jinnah in the series, while Malishka Mendonsa plays Sarojini Naidu on screen. This series will stream on OTT platform SonyLIV from November 15.

Rob Peace (11 November)

Directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, this drama film is based on the 2014 biography ‘The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace’ written by Jeff Hobbs. It is the story of the life of Robert Peace (Jay Will). Rob is a popular student at Yale University in New Jersey. Due to his/her hard work he/she got a scholarship. The family consists of mother Jackie (Mary J. Blige), who sees her son’s challenging beginnings as a bright future. But his/her life changes. Her father, Skeet (Ejiofor) is behind bars. he/she is accused of two murders. Rob gets into drug dealing to raise money for his/her father’s legal defense. he/she is leading a dangerous double life. Meanwhile, he/she also meets a girl in college. Emilia Perez (November 13)

Emilia Perez is a musical crime drama directed by Jacques Audiard. It stars Carla Sofia Gascón as Juan ‘Manitas’ del Monte, the leader of a Mexican cartel. She was born male, but sees herself as a girl. She wants to transform herself into a girl through surgery. This courageous attempt to turn her life around involves her plotting her own death and her rebirth as Emilia Perez. She takes help from lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldana). In this, Selena Gomez plays the role of Emilia’s wife Jessie. You can watch this film, which combines the world of crime, complex relationships and the nuances of self-discovery, on the OTT platform Netflix from November 13.

Cross (14 November)

Aldis Hodge is in the lead role in this crime series based on James Patterson’s very popular novel ‘Alex Cross’. he/she is a brilliant detective and forensic psychologist living in Washington. he/she has the uncanny ability to understand the minds of both murderers and victims. In eight episodes he/she solves eight different cases. Interestingly, while this series will be released on OTT platform Prime Video on November 14, its second season has also been given the green signal before that.

Say Nothing (14 November)

‘Say Nothing’ is an emotional story based on the troubles of Northern Ireland. It begins with the 1972 kidnapping of Jean McConville, a mother of ten. Lola Petticrew and Hazel Doupe play Dolores and Marion Price, two sisters bound by ideology and family values. Anthony Boyle plays a military officer who is also entangled with himself. Josh Finnan plays Gerry Adams, a leader whose political legacy is in dispute. This drama web series is based on the book by Patrick Raden Keefe. Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 (November 15th)
