What is NCERT Primer?

Primer helps in reading and writing along with letter recognition through scientific method. Children also get to know about the cultural aspects of any state. Along with the sounds, alphabets, words and syntax of their languages and mother tongue, children also acquire basic knowledge of the official language, civilization and culture of the respective state.

With the aim of providing teaching material to students in their mother tongues at the initial stage of education and providing them an opportunity to study in their own language, the Union Ministry of Education has launched Primers of Indian Languages. These also include primers on the languages spoken by the tribals. Locally prevalent languages have been included.
