New formula to catch dummy teachers and colleges, this is how cheaters will get caught in NCTE’s net

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued an important order to obtain accurate information about the condition of classroom teaching, faculty appointment, infrastructure, lab-library in 15,500 institutions across the country. This formula will not only evaluate the level of education in the institute, but will also catch dummy teachers and institutions. NCTE Chairman Professor Pankaj Arora says that according to the rules, one-time recognition is given to the teacher education institute by NCTE. There is also no provision for inspection. In such a situation, this formula has been implemented under the NCTE Act, 1993 to check every aspect including the level of education and infrastructure in teaching institutions.

Many times complaints are received about the non-existence of the institute. It is also said that a teacher is enrolled at many places. All these matters can now be investigated easily.

How will NCTE detect fraud?

According to NCTE Chairman Professor Pankaj Arora, now the recognized teacher education institutions will have to submit Performance Appraisal Reports (PARs) for the academic sessions 2021-22 and 2022-23 from the NCTE website https://ncte.gov.in. This report can be submitted till November 10. It is necessary to submit the report and action will be taken against the institutions not doing so under the NCTE Act 1993.

Apart from this, the teachers who are associated with the institute or university will also have to certify the report of the institute. In this way, the investigation will be done at the first two levels. After that NCTE will investigate all the aspects of the report. Whatever shortcomings there are, the institute will be informed about them. The special thing is that the details of the teacher’s PAN card will also have to be given. The benefit of this will be that if a teacher enrolls for an institute and wants to enroll at another place, the system will not accept that request.

NCTE has made even stricter arrangements and said that every institute will have to upload videos of classroom teaching, photos, lab and library photos with time and date through the app. When NCTE analyzes the reports of all 15,500 institutions, then some parameters will be decided. Along with this, the report of teacher education institutions will also be released on the website under the National Education Policy 2020, so that if anyone has to put forward his/her point, he/she can do so.

Why was this step taken for teaching courses

There are also such institutes that get recognition for teaching courses, where students are registered just for a nominal amount. There are neither teachers nor the necessary facilities for studies. In such a situation, it is natural to doubt the abilities of the students getting the degree. Important recommendations have been made in the education policy to improve classroom teaching, under which a four-year integrated teacher education program is also being started in the institutes. Performance Appraisal Report (PARs)- The portal has provisions like geo tagging and geo-referencing, which will help in identifying the correct location of the institutes.
