New DU College Campus: How will DU’s new campus be in East and West? New college also in the name of Veer Savarkar

Delhi University New College Campus: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inaugurating three projects of Delhi University costing more than Rs 600 crore. These projects include DU East Campus in Surajmal Vihar, DU West Campus in Dwarka and Delhi University’s new college in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, which will be named after Veer Savarkar. PM Modi is laying the foundation stone of these three today.

Projects will be completed in one and a half to two years

Vice Chancellor of Delhi University (DU) Prof. Yogesh Singh said that ‘these three projects will be completed in one and a half to two years. We will run many courses at all three places. With these three, the number of seats in DU will increase, meaning more students will get a chance to study in DU. he/she said that ‘Government of India has given funds of more than Rs 600 crore for these three projects. We already had DU North and South campus, now there will be Delhi University on all four sides along with East and West campus.

What will happen in East Campus in Surajmal Vihar?

VC Prof. Yogesh Singh said that an academic block will be built in DU East Campus on 15.25 acres in Surajmal Vihar at an estimated cost of Rs 373 crore. Along with LLB, LLM and five-year integrated LLB programme, many other multidisciplinary programs will also be run in this campus. The area of ​​this project has been fixed at 59,618 square meters. It will have many modern facilities including 60 classrooms, 10 tutorial rooms, 6 moot courts, 4 computer labs, 2 cafeterias, 2 common rooms.

How will the West Campus in Dwarka be?

Pro. Singh said that a new academic block will be built in the first phase of the West Campus to be built in Dwarka Sector 22 at an estimated cost of Rs 107 crore. The 19,434.28 square meter built-up area of ​​this project will have various facilities including 42 classrooms, two moot courts, digital library, conference room, faculty room, cafeteria, boys and girls common room and seminar hall.

College in the name of Veer Savarkar

Delhi University’s college will be built in the name of Veer Savarkar near UER Highway in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, just 5 minutes away from DU West Campus. This college, with an area of ​​18,816.56 square meters at a cost of approximately Rs 140 crore, will have facilities like 24 classrooms, 8 tutorial rooms, a canteen and 40 faculty rooms including department library, conference rooms.

In 2021, the discussion on the colleges of Najafgarh including East Campus, West Campus also intensified. However, the wait to start it also became long. The proposal to name the college after Veer Savarkar was also made in the same year.
