Nepal’s decision to print controversial map on new notes, Chinese company will print the currency, fear of increasing tension with India

New Delhi : Nepal’s KP Sharma Oli government has created a new controversy. They have decided to print a new note which will have a new map of Nepal. In this map, three areas of India – Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani have been shown as part of Nepal. This map was released in 2020 and since then there has been tension in India-Nepal relations. India says that these three areas belong to it.

The matter is related to printing new notes

The new note will be issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). This will be a note of Rs 100. The contract for printing notes has been given to a Chinese company, China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation. The company will print 30 crore notes. For this he/she will get 89.9 lakh dollars. Experts believe that the Oli government is playing the politics of nationalism. She is using this issue to instigate people against India.

Nepal released a new map of its country, declared India’s Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura as its own.

Controversy over disputed map on note

India has already said that Nepal’s claims are fabricated and it will not accept them at all. When Nepal released a new map in 2020, India gave a strong reaction. India had called it a unilateral action and warned Nepal that such artificial expansion would not be acceptable.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s truth

India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said that our stand is very clear. We are discussing our border matters with Nepal through an established forum. Meanwhile, they have taken some unilateral steps from their side, but by doing anything from their side, they are not going to change the situation or the ground reality between us. Nepal is bordered by five states of India – Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The total length of the border is more than 1,751 kilometers.

Relations may deteriorate due to new dispute

Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani are in western Nepal, bordering Uttarakhand. There has been no reaction from India regarding the new note yet. But it is believed that this may further sour the relations between the two countries. This matter has already become a major dispute between the two countries. There is a possibility that this controversy will get further fueled by the new note.
