NEET Paper Leak: NTA under the scanner of Supreme Court, will have to answer on CBI investigation

Latest Updates from Supreme Court on NEET 2024: The Supreme Court has Well During the hearing on the petition demanding a CBI inquiry into the UG 2024 paper leak case, notice has been issued to the Central Government and NTA (National Testing Agency). The Supreme Court has said that this matter is related to the future of 24 lakh students and it is concerned about it. The Supreme Court has asked the NTA to file a reply within two weeks. Other respondents have also been asked to file a reply during the next hearing of the case.

This petition has also been tagged with the already pending petition. The next hearing will be on July 8.

We are concerned about the students: Supreme Court

The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. During this, the petitioner’s lawyer in the Supreme Court said that a CBI inquiry is needed in the paper leak case. On this, Justice Nath said that your argument is that the order for a CBI inquiry should be given without hearing the other side? NTA’s reply is necessary before passing any order in this matter.

During this, the lawyer of the petitioner said that the petitioner needs immediate relief. This matter is related to the future of 24 lakh students. In such a situation, NTA should present all the details related to the exam and this should be presented before the counseling of the candidates. During this, Justice Nath said that we are able to understand and we are concerned about all the students. Arguments in this case should be presented on July 8. The next hearing is on July 8.

During this, a lawyer appearing on behalf of the petitioner said that students are committing suicide in Kota. On this, Justice Nath said that you should not present emotional arguments without any basis. The case of suicide is not related to NEET UG 2024.

Doubts over NEET qualified, non-qualified

Another lawyer for the petitioner argued in the Supreme Court that the NTA had concealed some facts in the Supreme Court on Thursday. The NTA did not disclose the number of qualified students and the number of unqualified students. It only said that it had given the option of retaking the test to 1563 students.

The counsel for the petitioner said that out of the 1563 students who were given grace, 790 students were qualified and 773 students were unqualified. Even after giving grace, they are unqualified. On this, the Supreme Court told the petitioner to register his/her objection in this matter, we will consider it. The bench again said that it is not stopping the counseling.
