NEET: Initiative for reform from PG! Many centers out, this big change can happen from next year

Latest News on NEET Exam: The seven-member high level committee formed for examination reforms is working on a mission to make the process of competitive examinations tamper free. The new reforms will be implemented from the 2025 examinations. However, before this, the initiative of examination reform has been taken from NEET PG 2024. After postponing this exam on 22 June, now the new date of 11 August has been announced. Now a big change has been made that after many years Well It has been decided to conduct PG in two shifts.

It is being told that since 2017 this exam was being conducted in a single shift. This time the list of reliable test centers has been prepared only after thorough investigation. Many private centers have also been excluded from this list.

NEET PG exam will be held at AICTE and TCS centers

Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra says that NEET PG Exam 2024 was being conducted in a single shift for the last several years, but this time it will be conducted in two shifts. The National Board of Examination (Medical Sciences) under the ministry had earlier selected about 1038 centers in 292 cities for a single shift. Now the exam to be held on August 11 will be conducted in two shifts at about 500-600 centers.

Engineering colleges of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and centres of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are being selected. The centres about which even the slightest doubt has come up have been removed from the list. About 2.28 lakh candidates had registered for NEET PG exam 2024. This exam was to be held on 23 June, but a day before the exam, the board had decided to postpone NEET-PG.

FMGE exam was held at 71 centers in 21 states

FMGE was held on Saturday for candidates who have studied medicine abroad. According to the Union Health Ministry, the exam was held at 71 centers in 50 cities of 21 states. 35,819 candidates had registered for the exam. The paper was held in CBT mode and question papers were easily downloaded at all test centers. The question paper opened only with the password of the candidates.

Officials of the National Board of Examination (Medical Sciences) were present at all the centers. A team of the Union Home Ministry also visited the board headquarters. A command center was set up at the board headquarters in Dwarka. A team of TCS officials was also present. The Health Secretary says that no complaint has been received regarding the process of Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE). AICTE and TCS have started working on test centers.

Actually, a day before, there was a rumour of the question paper of this exam being leaked, but the ministry clearly said that the paper was not prepared till Saturday evening. On Saturday morning, the paper was prepared and sent directly to the exam centres, where the paper opened only with the candidate’s password.

NBT Lens: There will be big changes in 2025

The report of the high level committee is yet to come. But it is certain that major changes will be seen in the competitive examination of 2025. Expert and career counselor Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu says that medical entrance exam NEET UG should also be brought in CBT mode and this exam can be conducted in multiple shifts. This suggestion has been given to the committee. he/she says that in CBT mode the possibility of paper leak is completely eliminated, because the computer selects the question.

It is possible that we may not see offline exams next year. CUET was also conducted in CBT mode for the first two years and later it was brought to hybrid mode. JEE Main is conducted in CBT mode only.
