NEET 2025: How many MBBS seats, how much fees, how many marks required in NEET? The race is very difficult

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Well UG) guidelines have arrived. Students are getting prepared accordingly. Getting a government seat for affordable and quality MBBS education in India is considered a big success. Amidst less seats, more demand and expensive education, students focus on seats in government colleges. There are more than 1 lakh 8 thousand MBBS seats in more than 700 medical colleges in the country. But the government seats are only around 56 thousand. Last year, more than 13 lakh students had qualified the NEET exam. Medical career counselor Mayank Gupta says, this is a tough fight. To get a government seat in medical, the marks should be very high. For quality and affordable education, students should focus on government institutions only.

How many marks are required in NEET for government college?

Mayank says, ‘According to the trend, 600+ score gets you a government seat. A score above 650 helps to get into top colleges and above 700 to get into top 10.

‘Although many private institutes also provide good education, the fees are quite high. According to this, more than 10 lakh students have the option of private medical colleges only. Where the fees go from Rs 1 to 1.5 crores. The second option is to go abroad and study MBBS in countries like Russia, Ukraine, China, Georgia.

Medical colleges and their fees

There are about 56 thousand MBBS seats in government medical colleges of the country. There are about 2040 seats in 10 AIIMS. There are only 125 seats in AIIMS Delhi. More than 45 thousand seats are in state government colleges and the rest are in autonomous colleges. In some top government medical colleges including AIIMS, the fees range from 6 thousand to 40-50 thousand annually.

At the same time, in private and deemed medical colleges, this fee reaches Rs 2 to 30 lakh annually. AIIMS, Maulana Azad Medical College – Delhi, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College – Safdarjung Hospital – Delhi, SMS Medical College – Jaipur, King George Medical College – Lucknow are among the top colleges. There is also demand for some private colleges, where fees are less.
