Nearly 60 percent voting took place in the sixth phase, highest voting in Bengal, Kashmir also made a record.

New Delhi: Voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections has been completed across the country. Lakhs of people cast their votes amid scorching heat in many parts of the country. Voting took place on 58 seats in six states and two union territories on Saturday. According to the assessment till 8.45 pm, 59.6 percent voting took place in the sixth phase. Today voting also took place on all seven seats of Delhi. Highest voting took place in West Bengal while lowest voting took place in Jammu and Kashmir. However, compared to the previous elections, the voting percentage in Jammu and Kashmir has increased significantly.

  • Uttar Pradesh- 54.03
  • West Bengal- 78.19

Record voting in Jammu and Kashmir
The total voting percentage in 5 Lok Sabha seats of Jammu and Kashmir was 58. The highest turnout was recorded in 35 years. This is 9 percent more than the previous highest turnout recorded in 2014. 53 percent voting was recorded in Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency.

Many big leaders voted
Voting took place on all the seats of Delhi today in the sixth phase. Many big leaders came to vote in Delhi. This includes President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Incidents of violence in West Bengal
Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from some areas in eight Lok Sabha constituencies of West Bengal. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, out of eight seats, BJP won five and TMC won three.
